Sadducces, Pharisees, And The Church
What the Sadducees believed. The Sadducees had their roots in the time of the Hasmonaean dynasty. After the Israelites returned from the Babylonian Captivity, it was the tradition that the high priest must be of the tribe of Levi, the family of Aaron, and the family of Zadok, Solomon’s high priest (1 Kings 2:35 and Ezekiel 40:46). Descendants of this family (called Zedukim, or “Sadducee” in English) were the temple authorities throughout the time before Jesus was born. Descendants of Zadok and their supporters, many of them priests, were also called Sadducees. They were wealthy and politically active (having the favor of the Romans and of the support of Herod), and they were a large majority on the Sanhedrin. This gave them far greater influence than their small numbers justified (some scholars believe there were fewer than 1,000 actual Sadducees). They also controlled the economy of the temple, for which they were criticized by the Essenes and confronted by an angry Jesus. Apparently, many were Hellenistic in lifestyle, though faithful to the temple rituals. The Sadducees were the conservatives of the time. They held that only the written Torah was authoritative, rejecting the oral law completely. And even holding the prophets and other writings of less value than Torah. They opposed the Pharisees in every way they could up to the time the Temple was destroyed in AD 70. They denied a bodily resurrection and most of the Pharisaic doctrine of angels and spirits. They held completely to the letter of Torah with no room for the creative applications of the Pharisees. This was especially true in cases involving the death penalty. Extenuating circumstances made no difference. The Sadducees’ authority was one of position and birth, unlike the Pharisees, whose authority was based on piety and knowledge. They hated the Pharisees, believing the synagogue and study of the Torah and its interpretations as a form of worship undermined the temple ritual. They frequently dealt brutally with anyone who undermined the temple, its economy (their income), and its ritual. Also with Roman support were capable of severe punishment. The Sadducees offered worship that brought God down to the people. In their eyes, worship was an act of homage to the divine ruler, not an exercise in understanding. Their power was largely based in Jerusalem and Judea through the Sanhedrin, the ruling religious council, used by the Romans and Herod’s as the instrument to govern the Jewish people. The Sadducees had the most to lose because of Jesus. Any popular movement jeopardized not only their place as the majority on the Sanhedrin, but also the support of the Romans who ruled through it (John 11:49, 53), a fact that would have profound consequences. This was the one group most likely to wish Jesus removed from the scene. The early church, now a growing movement, faced a similar reaction from the Sadducees (Acts 4:1, 5:17), although a large number of priests who became believers in Jesus probably were Sadducees (Acts 6:7). When the temple in Jerusalem was destroyed, the Sadducees ceased to exist. Like the Sadducees of Jesus’ day, modern Sadducees also do not teach the whole plan of God and they seem to disagree amongst themselves on specifics. These are partial Christians which are not Christians but use only a few choice scriptures instead of the whole word of God. See Matthew 4:4. Nearly all will not teach that we are to be born again by his grace, (As seen at Calvary, read John 1:29 and Hebrews 9:15-22.) and our active faith through our water baptism (John 3:5, Mark 16:16, Matthew 28:18-20, Ephesians 2:8-10, and Luke 24:45-47.) to be part of God’s family. Neither teach that we are begotten through the spirit of God, which enters in after our baptism in the one name (Acts 4:12, Colossians 3:17, John 14:6, and 1 Peter 3:21) that now saves us. Also see Matthew 3:12-17, Romans 6:4, and Colossians 2:12. Some deny that there are eras of God’s Church. Read Revelations 1:4 and Revelations 2:21-3:21. Most do not consider that the top priority of the Church should be proclaiming the Gospel to the world as a witness. Mark 16:15-18. Acts 1:8 and 2:1-42. We read in Smith’s Bible Dictionary says that the Sadducees “were for the most part judges, and individuals of the governing class. The leading tenet of the Sadducees was the negation of the leading tenet of their opponents. The second distinguishing doctrine of the Sadducees was the denial of man’s resurrection after death.” Halley’s Bible Handbook says the Sadducees “were a priestly clique, irreligious, they were rationalistic and worldly minded.” In addition Josephus wrote, “Sadducees, think it an instance of virtue to dispute with those teachers of philosophy whom they frequent. Sadducees say that they may act as they please. But the behavior of the Sadducees ones towards another is in some degrees wild; and their conversation with those that are of their own party is as barbarous as if they were strangers to them.” Thus the Sadducees were a mixture of independents and semi-independent individuals. Scripture confirms that many of the Sadducees were associated with the priesthood and that they were somewhat hostile to the true Church, “Then the high priest rose up, and all those who were with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation, And laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison” (Acts 5:17-18). And the Sadducees may have been prophesied, “How can you say, “We are wise, And the law of the Lord is with us’?…Behold they have rejected the word of the Lord; So what wisdom do they have?” (Jeremiah 8:8-9). The Sadducees apparently considered human governance and position more important than God’s as John wrote, “The chief priests answered, “We have no king but Caesar!” ” (John 19:15). They also would not teach the whole plan of salvation, “For Sadducees say that there is no resurrection and no angel or spirit” (Acts 23:8). “Then some Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Him. Jesus answered and said to them, “Are you not therefore mistaken, because you do not know the Scriptures nor the power of God?” ” (Mark 12:18/24). What The Pharisees believed. The Torah was of great importance to the Pharisees. It was the focus of every part of their lives. They believed that Moses had given a two-part law: the written law of the Torah itself and additional oral commandments that had been passed through generations to help the faithful understand and apply the written law. The Pharisees continued to interpret and expand the Torah to cover every possible occurrence of unfaithfulness to the written law. This oral law became a complex guide to everyday life often beyond the comprehension of the average person. Yet its intent was to help people understand Torah, much as a creed or catechism is intended to help summarize and interpret the Bible today. It is important to recognize that the word “law” can mean either (or both) of these “Torahs” when used in the Bible. It is often the oral Torah that Jesus criticized, though he kept it in many respects. The Pharisees had many beliefs in common with Jesus and the New Testament. They believed in the physical resurrection of the dead (While the Sadducees did not!) and a coming day of judgment followed by reward or punishment. They anticipated the Messiah at any moment. They believed in angels. They recognized a combination of free choice and divine control in human life. They thought of God as all-wise, all-knowing, just, and merciful. They taught that he loved his people, calling them to a life of obedience. The Pharisees believed that everyone had the power to choose good or evil, and die Torah must be his or her guide. And since their lives revolved around the study of the Torah, the Pharisees made the synagogue their community center, though they supported the Temple as well. There were more than 6,000 Pharisees by Jesus’ time, and they were the dominant influence on the people’s spiritual lives. The “yoke of Torah” (or method of obeying) taught by the Pharisees was a heavy burden, sometimes obscuring the very law they sought to obey. The Pharisees desired to raise the spiritual character of the Jewish people to help them draw nearer to God (Psalm 73:28, 34:18, and James 4:8 for a New Testament expression of the same idea). Halley’s Bible Handbook says that the, “Pharisees were the most numerous and influential of the religious sects of Jesus’ day. They were strict legalistic. They stood for the rigid observance of the letter and forms of the Law, and also for the Traditions”. According to Smith’s Bible Dictionary, “The fundamental principle of the Pharisees is that there was an oral law to complete and explain the written law, given to Moses”. A scriptural example of that would be Matthew 15:1-2, “Then the scribes and Pharisees who were from Jerusalem came to Jesus saying, ‘Why do Your disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? For they do not wash their hands when they eat bread’”. The Pharisees were very concerned about ‘the tradition of the elders’ even though there was no biblical requirement to wash hands before eating bread. Modern Pharisees are focused more on traditions than the Bible. The man made trinity tradition developed in Babylon and passed to all cultures was then brought in by Greeks (Justin Martyr 145 A.D. in water baptism and Tertullian 200 A.D. in Godhead.) and adopted by Catholics and later Protestants, fits this mode or tradition. Jesus often called the Pharisees hypocrites (Matthew 15:7,16:3, 22:18, 23:23-29, and Mark 7:6). According to Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance, the Greek word Jesus used that was translated as hypocrite means, “an actor under an assumed role”. “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you pay tithe of mint and anise and cummin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These you ought to have done, without leaving the others undone. Blind guides, who strain out a gnat and swallow a camel!” (Matthew 23:23-24). “Pharisees and lawyers rejected the will of God for themselves” (Luke 7:30). Today one may decide to be either a Sadducee, Pharisee, or a saved believer of God. And now more than ever we are looking up for Jesus, as our redemption draws nigh. It’s not about looking busy rather we are about our father’s business of seeing souls saved by his name. He told all to “Occupy till I come” (Back. Found in Luke 19:13). Jesus said, “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming. Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing” (Mat 24:42,46). He also said, “Take heed, watch and pray; for you do not know when the time is” (Mark 13:33). Also, look at what we are warned in the book of Ezekiel (the book must be warning people who at least have read the Bible), Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it: Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord God. If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts: Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate. (Ezekiel 14:13-16). God can save anyone from anything if it is his will. Nothing is impossible with him. Now depending on others will not save you. That is why Paul says in Philippians, “work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” (2:12). And Peter plainly said this with the support of the other Apostles and all of the church. Acts 2:38-40 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call. And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation. And nobody will serve God long with true love and acceptance of his word. We must be like the first believers. They all gladly heard, believed, and received the word. 1 Corinthians 3:11 “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” Acts 2:41-47 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the Apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved. They all had things to be worried about yet they focused their faith in him who changes not. Therefore they were in perfect peace through the Prince of peace. In Isaiah 26:3-4. Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Trust ye in the Lord for ever: for in the Lord Jehovah is everlasting strength. Psalm 29:11 The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace. Today, if you have accepted Jesus Christ by name in all things then you are the people of God. Matthew 1:21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins. And your are safely saved by his name which is the strong tower. The righteous run into it. May the peace and purpose of God be always in your heart and life, until his soon return.

The Samson Story
The Samson story. Did you know that Samson was a Nazerite. The angel of the Lord announced his birth. This happened to John and Jesus. They also were filled with the Holy Spirit even in their mother’s womb. Judges 13:5,7 For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and no razor shall come on his head: for the child shall be a Nazarite unto God from the womb: and he shall begin to deliver Israel out of the hand of the Philistines. His mother was explaining to her husband what happened. But he said unto me, Behold, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; and now drink no wine nor strong drink, neither eat any unclean thing: for the child shall be a Nazarite to God from the womb to the day of his death. The angel later returned and repeated the instructions he gave her to him. As the man really just wanted confirmation of the secret name of the angel of the Lord. Judges 13:18 And the angel of the Lord said unto him, Why askest thou thus after my name, seeing it is secret? Today we the servants of the Lord know the secret of his name. His name is Jesus or Yeshuah. Later on his wife seemed to have more common sense than him. As they saw God in the flesh and were not killed. Verses 22-23. And Manoah said unto his wife, We shall surely die, because we have seen God. (As she said this on the matter.) But his wife said unto him, If the Lord were pleased to kill us, he would not have received a burnt offering and a meat offering at our hands, neither would he have shewed us all these things, nor would as at this time have told us such things as these. These simple people on the farm had no idea of nor saw a triune God. Neither will one be seen in heaven. John 4:24, Revelations 4:2, and 1 Timothy 3:16. Verses 24-25. And the woman bare a son, and called his name Samson: and the child grew, and the Lord blessed him. And the Spirit of the Lord began to move him at times in the camp of Dan between Zorah and Eshtaol. The self same Holy Spirit gives differently to each person yet is the same spirit. 1 Corinthians 12:28-31 And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way. We are told to covert only the gifts of God and nothing earthly. Now I have have known men who moved the room (Via the Holy Ghost.) upon their arrival. It was their dedication to God that made the difference and not their education. Give me just five poor uneducated people who really love God and we will win a city for him. Give me five educated people and they will only talk about what they could do. Results are everything when it comes to saving souls from the fire. God does it through us and not we ourselves. Judges 14:1-6 And Samson went down to Timnath, and saw a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines. And he came up, and told his father and his mother, and said, I have seen a woman in Timnath of the daughters of the Philistines: now therefore get her for me to wife. Then his father and his mother said unto him, Is there never a woman among the daughters of thy brethren, or among all my people, that thou goest to take a wife of the uncircumcised Philistines? And Samson said unto his father, Get her for me; for she pleaseth me well. But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel. Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him. And the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done. Samson was a deliverer. He was a type of Christ. He overcame and tore apart the Lion (a type of Satan) and later on died delivering his people with his arms stretched out. Samson is mention in the hall of heroes. Hebrews 11:32-33 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions. The main problem Samson has was with foreign women and the lusts of the eyes and flesh. King Solomon had the same problem yet god could not turn his heart back to him, though appearing twice to him. And he died lost. In Deuteronomy 17:14- 20 we have the instructions of God. When thou art come unto the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee, and shalt possess it, and shalt dwell therein, and shalt say, I will set a king over me, like as all the nations that are about me; Thou shalt in any wise set him king over thee, whom the Lord thy God shall choose: one from among thy brethren shalt thou set king over thee: thou mayest not set a stranger over thee, which is not thy brother. But he shall not multiply horses to himself, nor cause the people to return to Egypt, to the end that he should multiply horses: forasmuch as the Lord hath said unto you, Ye shall henceforth return no more that way.Neither shall he multiply wives to himself, that his heart turn not away: neither shall he greatly multiply to himself silver and gold. And it shall be, when he sitteth upon the throne of his kingdom, that he shall write him a copy of this law in a book out of that which is before the priests the Levites: And it shall be with him, and he shall read therein all the days of his life: that he may learn to fear the Lord his God, to keep all the words of this law and these statutes, to do them: That his heart be not lifted up above his brethren, and that he turn not aside from the commandment, to the right hand, or to the left: to the end that he may prolong his days in his kingdom, he, and his children, in the midst of Israel. Solomon failed to heed the words of God and died a fool. Ecc. 9:4 For to him that is joined to all the living there is hope: for a living dog is better than a dead lion. Also Ecc. 1:13-15 Then I saw that wisdom excelleth folly, as far as light excelleth darkness. The wise man’s eyes are in his head; but the fool walketh in darkness: and I myself perceived also that one event happeneth to them all. Then said I in my heart, As it happeneth to the fool, so it happeneth even to me; and why was I then more wise? Then I said in my heart, that this also is vanity. The wise man’s eyes are the Holy Spirit of God that searches all things. Hebrews 4:12. All saved people have it. Samson was later blinded by his enemies. In judgement against his sins. We that are of the household of God are judged now to be spared from it later. John 2:15-17 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever. 2 Corinthians 4:6-7 For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. And though Solomon died as a fool, (Because he lost out with God.) yet he still retained the gift of great wisdom that was given to him by God. Romans 11:29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance. 1 King 3:11-12 And God said unto him, Because thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thyself long life; neither hast asked riches for thyself, nor hast asked the life of thine enemies; but hast asked for thyself understanding to discern judgment; Behold, I have done according to thy words: lo, I have given thee a wise and an understanding heart; so that there was none like thee before thee, neither after thee shall any arise like unto thee. God used only one occasion to exact revenge upon his enemies the Philistines and he meant it as a one time deal. And not for Samson to hook up with a hooker or prostitute (Upon hearing this, the Philistines then surrounded the city yet God delivered him.) and then with Delilah. Here Samson had married a girl who found his secret. This was to be his pattern later on as we shall see. His enemies later keyed upon his pattern or mistakes, and took advantage of them. Judges 14:11-20 And it came to pass, when they saw him, that they brought thirty companions to be with him. And Samson said unto them, I will now put forth a riddle unto you: if ye can certainly declare it me within the seven days of the feast, and find it out, then I will give you thirty sheets and thirty change of garments: But if ye cannot declare it me, then shall ye give me thirty sheets and thirty change of garments. And they said unto him, Put forth thy riddle, that we may hear it. And he said unto them, Out of the eater came forth meat, and out of the strong came forth sweetness. And they could not in three days expound the riddle. And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they said unto Samson’s wife, Entice thy husband, that he may declare unto us the riddle, lest we burn thee and thy father’s house with fire: have ye called us to take that we have? is it not so? And Samson’s wife wept before him, and said, Thou dost but hate me, and lovest me not: thou hast put forth a riddle unto the children of my people, and hast not told it me. And he said unto her, Behold, I have not told it my father nor my mother, and shall I tell it thee? And she wept before him the seven days, while their feast lasted: and it came to pass on the seventh day, that he told her, because she lay sore upon him: and she told the riddle to the children of her people. And the men of the city said unto him on the seventh day before the sun went down, What is sweeter than honey? And what is stronger than a lion? and he said unto them, If ye had not plowed with my heifer, ye had not found out my riddle. And the Spirit of the LORD came upon him, and he went down to Ashkelon, and slew thirty men of them, and took their spoil, and gave change of garments unto them which expounded the riddle. And his anger was kindled, and he went up to his father’s house. But Samson’s wife was given to his companion, whom he had used as his friend. God still used the time to redeem his people from their foes. We must redeem the time because the days are evil. If we fail to buy them back as ambassadors of Christ, then they will go to waste. Later in Judges 15:1-6 Because of his wife being given over to another. Samson first revenges himself tying 300 foxes tail to tail and releasing them to burn the enemies crops. The enemies then came up and burnt her. Samson’s wife who feared the snare of man and departed from the man of God. Instead she helped the arm of the flesh and was consumed by her fear (which is lack of faith) in the fire. If she just relied upon the strength or arm of the Lord, she would of been saved. Later Samson was bound by his own fearful people. They did the same thing to Christ. Handing him over to their enemies, the Romans for execution. Judges 15:14-19 And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands. And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith. And Samson said, With the jawbone of an ass, heaps upon heaps, with the jaw of an ass have I slain a thousand men. And it came to pass, when he had made an end of speaking, that he cast away the jawbone out of his hand, and called that place Ramathlehi. And he was sore athirst, and called on the Lord, and said, Thou hast given this great deliverance into the hand of thy servant: and now shall I die for thirst, and fall into the hand of the uncircumcised? But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, (It’s meaning: The fountain of the crier. Remember like Christ later on, the fountains of living waters sprang up in and out of him. Moses was supposed to talk to the rock to bring forth the water.) which is in Lehi unto this day. God used the same mechanism that killed his foes to deliver him. Christ Jesus destroyed his enemies by the cross at Calvary by which freed us from sin and Satan. Also like Paul he called upon the name of the Lord for salvation. Jesus is Lord of all, Acts 10:36. And now why tarriest thou? arise, and be baptized, and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord. Acts 22:16 Paul followed the words of Peter in 1 Peter 3:21. The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. And in Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. And of Jesus. Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Though it gets even more evident that that, let us return back to the Samson story. Judges 16: 4-6 And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah. And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver. And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee. Today there are many willing to sell Christ for less. Judas sold Christ for 30 pieces of silver. Though Samson and Christ Jesus were both sold out by people, really this betrayal was inspired by Satan. Many churches have sold the truth for worldly acceptance or glory. That is why they are blind and naked. They lack the clothes of righteousness and the eyes of whom we do see. Repent, or be thrown to the wolves or lions in the great tribulation. The time is not afar off but nearer than many believe it to be. Judges 16:7-31 And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withs that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man. Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withs which had not been dried, and she bound him with them. Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withs, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known. And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man. Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread. And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web. And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web. And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth. And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death; That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother’s womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man. And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath shewed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand. And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him. And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the Lord was departed from him. But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house. Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven. Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand. And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us. And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars. And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them. Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport. And Samson called unto the Lord, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes. And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left. And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life. Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the burying place of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years. The final lessons we can learn from Samson are these. He was in covenant with God. The Holy Spirit made him strong and not his hair. His hair grew longer in prison yet he was still weak. Baptism by faith saves through the spirit of God and not because we get wet, but because of our obedience to his will. Just as hair alone gives nobody strength without an agreement with and subsequently following God. There will always be wicked betrayers of righteous people. The Satanic Antichrist will rejoice over the deaths of the two witnesses (Some say they will be Enoch and Elijah, since it is appointed for all men to die yet these were taken away to heaven and have not died. Thus seemingly a special purpose for them to complete later. But this does not really matter in as far as salvation purposes.) as Samson’s enemies did his demise or downfall. Finally, despite sin God loves all and is willing to reach down and lift you up where ever you are.

Jesus And His Doctrine
Doctrine is defined as the following: (Latin: doctrina) is a codification of beliefs or “a body of teachings” or “instructions”, taught principles or positions, as the body of teachings in a branch of knowledge or belief system. Jesus had a doctrine or teachings, if you will. John 7:14-29 Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel. Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment. Then said some of them of Jerusalem, Is not this he, whom they seek to kill? But, lo, he speaketh boldly, and they say nothing unto him. Do the rulers know indeed that this is the very Christ? Howbeit we know this man whence he is: but when Christ cometh, no man knoweth whence he is. Then cried Jesus in the temple as he taught, saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not. But I know him: for I am from him, and he hath sent me. Plain Jesus taught a doctrine or had a body of teachings. The Apostles only edified or built from the foundation that he gave them. Everything Christ did was show us the way. (Hebrews 4:15 and Matthew 3:12-17) As he alone is the way, truth, and life; no man can come unto God except him and his name. John 14:5-15 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake. Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. If ye love me, keep my commandments. Here we can receive all (Of the greatness of God has for all people who fear him and regardless of being rich or poor, white or black, or anything in between.) according to his will in the name of Jesus. This would include salvation. After the baptism of Jesus by John in the Jordan River, he was full of the Holy Ghost. Luke 4:1 And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. He was then tempted by Satan in the wilderness. (A type or example of the world.) After your baptism in Jesus name Satan also will tempt any new child of God with the lust and pride of life. Even as he did our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. (Luke 4:2-14) We later see that Jesus preached in Nazareth (He was rejected in his own country.) and later in Capernaum. Luke 4:31-36 And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath days. And they were astonished at his doctrine: for his word was with power. And in the synagogue there was a man, which had a spirit of an unclean devil, and cried out with a loud voice, Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the devil had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not. And they were all amazed, and spake among themselves, saying, What a word is this! for with authority and power he commandeth the unclean spirits, and they come out. Here Jesus taught all a doctrine that was backed up by the power and spirit of God. The devils (Who were being cast out by God enfleshed.) themselves state that he was the “Holy One”. In the name of Jesus we are to baptized, cast out demons, heal sicknesses, ect. This is found in Mark 16:15-18 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. Also the book of Acts reports these facts: We read in Acts 2:38 Repent, and be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins. Acts 3:6 Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. Peter explaining here how the man was healed in Jesus name earlier. Acts 3:16 And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all. Also in Acts 4:8-12 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, If we this day be examined of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Acts 16:18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour. Acts 19:4-6 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. The gift of the Holy Ghost with the evidence of a another tongue or language. It does not save anyone but instead it adds Holy Ghost power for your witnessing and other gifts of the spirit. The gifts and calling are without repentance. (Romans 11:29) Jesus is the same always. (Hebrews 13:8) And what happened then still happens today. Acts 19:13-17 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the LORD Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded. And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified. Acts 2:41-44 Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles. And all that believed were together, and had all things common. The Apostles and disciple with them baptized 3,000 in Jesus name. (It would of taken less than an hour for the 120 to do so. 52 minutes by my calculations to be exact. That is for the 120 to do one per minute. Some who never complete baptism for the correct purposes or name often try to challenge this fact.) The Apostles taught or had a doctrine of which they passed on to the new converts. Acts 5:28-29 Saying, Did not we straitly command you that ye should not teach in this name? and, behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this man’s blood upon us. Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men. Here again is the Apostle’s doctrine or the Apostles teaching about Jesus as by the Holy Spirit. We go to Acts 13 where Paul is preaching the same doctrine as the other Apostles taught. Acts 13:9-12 Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him. And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? And now, behold, the hand of the Lord is upon thee, and thou shalt be blind, not seeing the sun for a season. And immediately there fell on him a mist and a darkness; and he went about seeking some to lead him by the hand. Then the deputy, when he saw what was done, believed, being astonished at the doctrine of the Lord. Paul himself was baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus and did so. See Acts 10:36, 16:15/33, 18:8, 19:1-5, and 22:16. They all spoke and thought they same way. Ephesians 4:3-7 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. In the mouth of two or three witnesses is everything established. (John 8:17, Numbers 35:30, Deuteronomy 17:6, and Revelations 11:12) If you would rather believe your church than Christ then you are lost. That is the Antichrist spirit, to follow men instead of the word and will of God! Romans 16:17 Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. How did you learn doctrine but through and by the living word of God. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. Jesus himself said all must abide in him and by the word of the one true God. Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. 1 Timothy 6:3-5 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strife’s of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. Again the warning to those who reject Christ and his word. They will not be accepted here nor in the age to come. Jesus said himself. Matthew 7:21-23 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. We all know that they did not comply with baptism in the name of Jesus, as he is Lord of all. Here we must be found in Christ our rock and not the sands of men’s traditions. Matthew 7:24-29 Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it. And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. The teaching of Jesus Christ must be the most important thing in your life if you expect to be saved. You must endure until the very end to be saved. Mark 13:13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 2 Timothy 2:3-5 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ. No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier. And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully. Also verses 10-12 of the same chapter. Therefore I endure all things for the elects sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us. I know everyone wants the quick and easy way in all things. Sometimes like Christ, we must allow God to increase and us to decrease. This is called grow pains. must like a person who is a weigh-lifter or runs track. The must through the study and discipline in order to gain the victory. We live in a imperfect world. It is not one of ease and comfort. Now Christ himself died for all sin. (Hebrews 9:15-22 and John 1:29) He died for our benefit that all might be saved. Jesus himself said this fact. John 3:5. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. We all need to be born of the water baptism and receive the spirit by faith in Christ. See Romans 6:4, Colossians 2:12, and Galatians 3:27. Christ died so that all might be saved through faith and his name sake. John 3:14-18 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. If you really believe hen you will obey. James 2:26 For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. 1 John 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. And Hebrews 11:1,6-7 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith. Finally, we read in 1 Peter 3:20-21: Which sometime were disobedient, when once the long suffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water. The like figure where unto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ. If we fail to obey Christ we are none of his. See John 14:15,15:14, and 1 John 2:4 He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. Also 1 John 2:8-11 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds. If we are here for Jesus Christ then we will indeed obey his word, without fear or favor of any man. Your persistence in Christ will overcome the resistance of Satan. May God give all who love him in truth eternal life and peace.
Jesus And His Doctrine

Filipino Employee Raises Economic Prospects
Never before has Philippine labor had such negotiating power. Call center recruits are now being offered signing bonuses before they start work. Employees are given bonuses for finding new recruits – more often than not poached from other call centers.
The explosive growth of business process outsourcing (BPO) has plugged the economy of the Philippines into the global services industry, raising high new hopes about the country’s economic prospects. Just 10 years ago, economic analysts and pundits concurred that the future of the predominantly agrarian economy lay in exporting fruit, seafood, garments, low-end electronics, and people – due primarily to cheap labor in the Philippines.
Nowadays, Filipino workers are increasingly doing the information technology enabled services (ITES) once held by middle-income-earning Americans, landing jobs in everything from accounting, payroll processing, credit-card administration, revenue management, database management, supply-chain management, and business intelligence to long-distance warehouse and inventory management.
In the first four months of this year, about 14 more companies are coming in, two of them call centers, and the rest back-office processing. That’s a good sign because clients don’t really need very, very good English speakers, but rather individuals with technical backgrounds and good written English, which the Philippines has an adequate supply of.
That is exactly how big multinational companies view the situation, particularly as other global English-speaking countries vie for a share of outsourcing contracts. As the Philippines reaches ever-deeper into its pool of semi-skilled labor – hype or no hype – the viability of its fastest-growing industry is still very much optimistic.
Graduates and even undergraduates who pass the preliminary exams undergo a six-day English skills training and product training for three weeks. After which the agent trainee will be placed on the floor to attend to mock calls for assessment. Agents are supposed to be able to type at least 25 words per minute.
Though foreign companies enjoy cheap labor in the Philippines, Filipinos also enjoy their salaries in the BPO sector compared to lower pay in other Filipino-owned companies. The basic pay for call center agents ranges from P11,000 (US$200.98 at US$1=PhP54.73) to P13,000 a month. In ICT Philippines, a call center that operates in the Philippines, agents enjoy a monthly P2,500 food and transportation allowance and a performance appraisal bonus amounting to P4,000. Often, they are also offered spiffs like appliances, cellular phone loads and gift checks to boost the sales per hour capacity of the employees. For example, whoever first gets five sales per hour for the night wins a prize. And an agent who hits the target quota sales gets an additional P11,500 commission plus a 30-50 percent night differential. All in all, a well-performing agent gets a gross monthly income of more than P31,000. This, as opposed to the P8,000 entry level salary generally offered in other sectors.
Offshoring, Inc, the leading American owned and operated offshore outsourcing company based in the Philippines, attests to the aforementioned studies regarding the phenomenon of business process outsourcing. Formed in 2004 by a group of American IT executives with extensive outsourcing and offshoring experience, the company is proud to have a long record of successful collaborations that have brought tremendous benefits to businesses worldwide.
The call center industry is tagged as the sunshine industry by the government because of its massive expansion, thus generating thousands of employment. It is the fastest growing sector within the IT software and services industry. It is not only sprouting in Metro Manila, but in other metropolitan areas as well like Cebu, Bangui, Davao and Pampanga. With an unemployment rate at 13 percent, the highest in Southeast Asia, the call center industry is perceived as a rare bright spot in the country sailing economy.
Thus, the Arroyo government is putting high hopes in the ICT-enabled services sector for the development of the economy. To realize its goal of placing the Philippines in the call center map of the world, the government has designated more than 96 special economic zones that offer tax breaks and other incentives to foreign investors and is improving the telecommunications and other basic infrastructure. Who would’ve thought that cheap labor in the Philippines could help improve the country’s economy when the outsourcing industry itself is cultivated?
